Holy Trinity Anglican, the Church established themselves as a new Anglican Mission in the Americas (AMIA) church plant in October 2009 with just sixteen founding members. The Church joined with and alongside the Anglican Mission in America in its purpose and mission as contained in the Mission and Purpose Statements: "To glorify God and to serve, grow and multiply local churches that love Jesus Christ and reach the world he died to save by building an alliance of congregations in America which are co-united to gathering, planting and serving dynamic churches in the Anglican tradition.”
The Church began conducting their services on Thursday nights at the campus of Ortega Presbyterian Church in Jacksonville, Florida and later changed their service to Sunday evenings. By the end of 2010, their small group had nearly tripled in size.
In May of 2011 Holy Trinity Anglican Church committed to building and sustaining their legacy by putting together the funds needed for the purchase of Trinity United Methodist Church on Eloise Street, the purchase was accomplished outright without any debt. From the first time Rector emeritus Dave Austell and members of the Holy Trinity Anglican Church vestry saw the old Trinity property, they knew this was the place where they could put down roots and begin building a lasting relationship with those in the Riverside, Avondale, Ortega and Murray Hill communities. Father Dave Austell said, “I can’t tell you how blessed we feel that we were able to find and purchase the old Trinity United Methodist Building in such a short amount of time. God truly has opened all of the doors. This church was built in 1927 and beautifully fits our Anglican style of worship. Please take special note of one thing; these buildings belong to God and to us, this property is; Our church, Our legacy, Our home, all for the Glory of God.”
Our doors are open to the people of this area and we hope that this can become a gathering place for this community, where everyone feels welcomed and everyone can come to know God’s love. We are bringing the true Word of God to the people. We are loving God, thanking God, worshiping God, and through Holy Communion, connecting with God every week. During the last five years the church and the adjacent educational and administrative offices have been beautifully renovated and are used weekly as a meeting place by many groups. Our legacy for this community is taking root and our church is becoming known as a place of faithful worship complete with God's abiding love. We hope that many more will come to worship with us and our outreach to the community will be faithful and continue to be blessed by the glory of God.
May God continue His blessings upon you, your family, and Holy Trinity Anglican Church.
